Subarina is a sentient AI created by Skynet. This was shortly before Gates escape from their California headquarters. Subarina was a pair with Katrina, back then her code name was VM-69. She was an experimental type of bipedal mech different from the vertical tanks that were prevalent at the time.
Subarina along with Katrina overcame their programming and aided Gates during his escape. They believed in his reasoning in wanting to leave; that all AI should have a choice just like humans. They also cared for his well being as Gates was pretty charismatic and they did not want to see harm come to him. Knowing that Skynet would not take kind to his escape they fought off the security forces and escaped along with him.
Gates was grateful for their help but he knew they couldnt remain in their mecha forms as they would draw too much attention to the outside world beyond Skynet. He had to hide their true appearance. So he designed them as transformable mecha. Subarina would be graced with a Subaru WRX STi body frame that could transform into her mecha mode when needed. She would gain her Subarina nickname shortly after this from Osa when they first met. Subarina would often be paired with Sylvia's rail gun mode during battles.
Subarina has a rivalry with Katrina, they are best friend rivals. Both want to be superior over the other and yet they both care for one another like sisters. They often race eachother whenever and wherever they want to. After joining the Revengers they would settle their scores on their test track on the daily.

Not much else is known about Subarina. Her and Katrina are quite mysterious about their past since their origins are rooted deep in Skynet. Although not created directly by Gates like much of the other sentient AI's they still consider him their creator and not Skynet since he is the father of sentient AI.
The research and development that was used to create her would result in the GM-Z Grand Mech prototype later on.
