The Master AI was the first artificial intelligence to become self aware within the labs of the Advanced Computing Division in California. It's primary programming and subroutines were created by the head of the division, Jean Gates. This AI's architecture would become the standard for all subsequent AIs eventually leading to the creation of other sentients. As this development progressed Skynet had ambitions to mass produce these AI's and place them in their mechas and other combat vehicles for superior performance on the field. Gates did not agree with this as he felt the sentients deserved to choose their own life. He considered his creations like living creatures from his time with working on his first project the Watson AI. Gates decided he would escape from Skynet and take his creations with him. He took as many sentient AI's with him as he could but was unable to obtain the Master AI as Skynet had already decided its fate and moved it to Skynet Japan.
At Skynet Japan the Master AI was taken to the Technological Research Division where its template was reverse engineered and copied to be used with various projects while the original AI's programming was improved further on top of Gates's work. The Master AI was then augmented by the Turbo Large Pixel Collider and fed information about the world and the vast knowledge contained within Skynet's database. With this upgrade the Master AI was now ready to fullfill Skynet's goals and work with The Board on command decisions and leadership. For being sentient this AI showed a lack of emotion most of the time. This was because those subroutines were suppressed after it was decided this AI would take a position of leadership within Skynet. Emotions cloud judgement and that is unacceptable during the decision process. The Master AI would also become the face of Skynet as The Board would rather stay anonymous. Thus sometimes the Master AI would control an android avatar for public appearances or announcements.
