These were small sized mecha which utilized bipedal locomotion. Sometimes they were vaguely humanoid in nature but nothing like the Grand Mechs that would come later. Their weapons utilized vulcan cannons, laser cannons, and rockets. Later on the rockets would be phased out for plasma cannons. 2nd generation vertical tanks were a bit larger than their 1st generation counterparts and they phased out the vulcan cannon in preference of more high tech weaponry. 3rd generation and onward were developed later when they became the Technological Research Division during their Skynet transition.
