When Japan was taken over by Skynet, Mazda was one of the corporations chosen along with Subaru, Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Honda to aid Skynet in creating their army for fighting against the world military. The RX-09 combat droid had a very simple AI compared to the GT-12 sentries, otherwise they were pretty similar in many ways. One stark difference however is the laser rifle. Unlike the GT-12 sentries, the RX-09 combat droid's laser rifle is part of the android itself. The RX-09's left forearm is what makes up the laser rifle. Due to this design the arms of the RX-09 are much stronger compared to their GT-12 sentry counterparts. The laser rifle is also much more powerful since it draws from the androids power supply which is stronger than the one that would be provided within a rifle. The RX-09's have a sort of hierarchy system with their androids, they are often led by a specialized unit, a "commander droid". This droid had a special name that made it stood out from the others, the most notable of these being Ahura Mazda. This combat droid was reinforced with daitanium plating, making it more robust compared to the others of its class. It would also have a secondary melee weapon, a pulse blade, and would even come equipped with sentient AI so it could command it's troops more efficiently.
