It is actually a reverse enginered AT field that was made possible due to the efforts of the Revengers in obtaining Skynet data during attacks on their bases. After Gates analysed the data he had enough to go on to design their own AT-field though theirs worked a little differently. The R-Shield has a smaller edge count and is weaker compared to the AT field. It also utilizes a different energy core, hence the difference in color. However, due to the way the R-Shield formation is shaped, it is able to form a barrier in full 360 degrees, unlike the AT-field which only blocks in one direction. This was first implemented on KITT during his Knight Industries Three Thousand upgrade but will soon be added to all of the Revengers vehicles to better protect them in battle.
