Vanilla Arc's alternate universe takes place on a timeline similar to the actual present day and are generally separate from the Mirror Universe and main storyline entirely. However there are also episodes that take place within the main story. For example the DLC edition, episodes which take place during the main storyline, follows a different group entirely. Unlike the Mirror Universe, most of these episodes are non-canon with an exception of a few. Most are just there to be trash. DLC edition is one of the few that are actually canon as it runs in the same timeline and universe with the main storyline but in a different state. It's an addon to Season 1's Vanilla Arc, hence "DLC Edition". The Alt-Universe is also home to some of the most fantastic crossovers.
