The fluid is pumped full of hormones that reactivates a part of the brain that was shut off since the time in the womb to promote cell growth which triggers the regeneration phenomena. It can pretty much heal anything if given enough time, even severed limbs. However if the injury is extremely traumatic, the healing tank may not work fast enough and cybernetics will be needed to keep the individual alive. The more devastating the injury, the longer the individual will have to remain inside the healing tank. Ki channels seem to be the exception to this healing factor as the healing tank cannot restore damaged Ki channels. That is something only the body itself can do as those pathways will have to be totally re-written and the user will have to relearn how to tap into that ability.
