STRIKE has a similar technology applied to their YAH-78 Super Apache albeit much less advanced. Nano-skin allows the metal to become a shape shifting entity; gaining the ability to become harder or softer depending on the will of the AI. This applies even if the metal is made out of something as strong as adamantium albeit with great difficulty. This is because it manipulates the structure of the metal at an atomic level. The metal can stretch out to bend and give as if it were skin, it can contract to tighten and squeeze in. The metal can swell, pulse, give off heat, and of course take a hardened form during combat for the highest damage resistance. It is also responsible for the smooth skin-like feel the metal has when touched. It is unknown if nano-skin can be applied to zentanium as that particular metal is extremely tough and resistant to morphing.
