Katrina is a sentient AI created by Skynet. This was shortly before Gates escape from their California headquarters. Katrina was a pair with Subarina, back then her code name was VM-72. She was an experimental type of bipedal mech different from the vertical tanks that were prevalent at the time.

Katrina along with Subarina overcame their programming and aided Gates during his escape. They believed in his reasoning in wanting to leave; that all AI should have a choice just like humans. They also cared for his well being as Gates was pretty charismatic and they did not want to see harm come to him. Knowing that Skynet would not take kind to his escape they fought off the security forces and escaped along with him.

Gates was grateful for their help but he knew they couldnt remain in their mecha forms as they would draw too much attention to the outside world beyond Skynet. He had to hide their true appearance. So he designed them as transformable mecha. Katrina would be graced with a Porsche body frame that could transform into her mecha mode when needed, this would later be upgraded to a Panamera model with time. Gates would come to name her Katrina after her transformation as her sleek black form looked fierce to him. This would be further reinforced by the hurricane that would blast through New Orleans in 2005; solidifying that name choice for her. Katrina was a force to be reckoned with in combat, more than her counterpart.

When Gates made his escape Katrina aided him by taking the Rathalium Burning Sword Skynet was developing and using it against Skynet forces; it was very effective. This weapon would be bestowed upon her afterwards as Gates saw it fitting to her fighting style. This would later be upgraded to the Radamanthium Burning Sword after the original gets badly damaged during battle.

Katrina has a rivalry with Subarina, they are best friend rivals. Katrina believes she is superior on the road due to her Porsche heritage, shes quite annoyed with a Subaru being on par with her and mocks Subarina about her ricer qualities sometimes. However deep down she cares about Subarina like a sister. They often race eachother whenever and wherever they want to. After joining the Revengers they would settle their scores on their test track on the daily.

Katrina also has a relationship with Boo Boo as her owner would ironically be Momo's sister. She often teases Boo Boo of being a lawn mower but loves him like a little brother. Whenever he is hurt emotionally it stirs her to do something about it.

Not much else is known about Katrina. Her and Subarina are quite mysterious about their past since their origins are rooted deep in Skynet. Although not created directly by Gates like much of the other sentient AI's they still consider him their creator and not Skynet since he is the father of sentient AI.

The research and development that was used to create her and her counterpart would result in the GM-Z Grand Mech prototype later on.
