	The Special Armored Division or SAD is a special division of the Outer Rim Civil Services Ministry in charge of ensuring peace throughout the Outer Rim Colonies. SAD primarily maintains a force of BattleTech style mecha and a fleet of ships to support this mech force. Their pilots are accepted in at high school age and trained at specialized institutions. These places are normally refered to as Academies. There are 6 in all and these facilities also act as bases of operation for SAD operations. Though SAD is not technically part of the military at times the Terran Federation Security Forces do work in conjunction with SAD Personnel.
